Foodie Feature: Eggs Benedict

One of our most popular breakfast choices, but served all day so you never have to miss out, is our scrumptious Eggs Benedict! This dish features perfectly poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce and ham on a soft English muffin. This is a hearty, filling breakfast and makes a great start to the day, but if you are passing on the A303 and fancied a smaller meal this is ideal later in the day, too. All of our ingredients are locally sourced from some of the best suppliers in the area.

We do hope you’ll stop in and try this dish!

Foodie Feature – Full English Breakfast

Today our Foodie Feature is all about the hearty Full English Breakfast! This classic dish is (contrary to its name) available all day in our restaurant. It features two bacon rashers, two sausages, two eggs, baked beans, hash browns, tomato and mushrooms, and if that’s not enough it also comes served with a side of toast and butter.

It’s delicious. It’s filling. We hope you will stop in on your travels and give it a try. We know you won’t be disappointed!

School Holidays: Things To Do With the Kids

The school holidays are here and you might be wondering about family activities and days out with the kids available to you this summer. If you have kids you know how important it is to engage their active minds, and at Visit Hillbrush we offer a range of things to keep you and the little ones occupied!

If you’re out and about and looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat and a drink, our restaurant is an ideal and welcoming venue. We offer a large menu of locally sourced food and snacks, an artisan coffee bar, and a drinks menu. We are extremely family friendly and there is even a special menu just for children. We have parasols on our terrace, so it is possible to spend time both inside and out to enjoy the weather. Dogs are also welcome on the terrace (guide dogs are welcome inside, too).

Once you have sated your appetite, you can browse the many colourful wares in our shop, many of which make fantastic gifts. Then there is our brushmaking museum, where you can learn about the many different brush types and fibres from around the world, as well as discover our company history which dates back to 1922! There are tactile displays for the kids, engaging videos, and displays full of quirky and interesting brushware.

We also offer free Kids Activity Booklets (you can ask for these at the tills) and offer a children’s seating area where they can colour and fill out their booklets.

We do hope you’ll pop in to see us this summer!

Mere Flower and Music Festival is Underway

Mere Flower and Music Festival is well underway and we wanted to share some photos of the incredible flower arrangements. Massive thank you to Pammy Coward for putting together this stunning, colourful flower-and-brushes display. It must have taken ages and it’s so eye-catching, a real burst of colour. We are proud to represent Hillbrush and Visit Hillbrush at the festival and we hope people will drop in to see us on their travels.

If you would like to see more photos from the show that we have taken, please click to see more.

It’s A Classic!

We recently spotted this beauty in our car park at Visit Hillbrush in Mere and we just had to share it (with the permission of the owners, of course). Our visitor centre is the ideal place for a classic car meet up, where owners can gather, admire and discuss their vintage vehicles! We have a spacious car park so there is plenty of room for everyone. Not to mention we are in a picturesque location in Mere. Our restaurant is open so it would be the perfect opportunity to grab a bite to eat and a drink while you’re here. Our¬†gorgeous south-facing terrace is designed for those long, sunny days!

Throwback Thursday

We found some interesting photographs while browsing through our image library. Just look at Hillbrush HQ exactly one year ago! It’s quite a different picture nowadays, with our factory, offices and visitor centre completed, populated and working hard. Relocating to Norwood Park was a massive undertaking at the time, and we appreciate the patience and kindness of the residents of Mere and the surrounding area while we made the leap.
