Breakfast at Visit Hillbrush

If you’re out and about this weekend and looking for somewhere to have breakfast, we have a delicious menu available that is served all day! Many of our meals are ideal starts to the day, ranging from big Full English Breakfasts that are incredibly filling, to lighter bites like our Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs and our selection of paninis.

All of our dishes are prepared on site using the finest, freshest local ingredients. There are plenty of amazing meals to choose from, including a “build your own” option. We hope you’ll stop by on your travels!

Foodie Feature: Eggs Benedict

One of our most popular breakfast choices, but served all day so you never have to miss out, is our scrumptious Eggs Benedict! This dish features perfectly poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce and ham on a soft English muffin. This is a hearty, filling breakfast and makes a great start to the day, but if you are passing on the A303 and fancied a smaller meal this is ideal later in the day, too. All of our ingredients are locally sourced from some of the best suppliers in the area.

We do hope you’ll stop in and try this dish!

Foodie Feature – Full English Breakfast

Today our Foodie Feature is all about the hearty Full English Breakfast! This classic dish is (contrary to its name) available all day in our restaurant. It features two bacon rashers, two sausages, two eggs, baked beans, hash browns, tomato and mushrooms, and if that’s not enough it also comes served with a side of toast and butter.

It’s delicious. It’s filling. We hope you will stop in on your travels and give it a try. We know you won’t be disappointed!

Foodie Feature – Hunters Chicken with Fries and Coleslaw

Our new Foodie Feature is all about our delectable Hunters Chicken. This dish comes served with fries, side salad and coleslaw and makes a filling lunch or main meal. We source the finest local meat for use in our dishes, and the Penleigh Farm Butchers chicken breast and bacon is no exception. In fact, the Penleigh meat is so popular here at Visit Hillbrush that we are often in danger of running out! Our weekly delivery is always a relief.

The meat is sprinkled with the extremely flavourful Barber’s extra mature Cheddar. You can find a number of excellent recipes on Barbers’ website here.

Our salad garnishes all come from The Watercress Co via Fine Foods, who are based in Dorchester. We love our local produce!

We hope you will stop by the visitor centre to try this amazing food. It is well worth the journey!

Foodie Feature – Goats Cheese, Pesto and Tomato Panini

Our Foodie Feature today is our delicious and well-presented Goats Cheese, Pesto and Tomato Panini, currently available in our restaurant. This dish is ideal as a light bite and is suitable for vegetarians, not that meat-eaters can’t enjoy it too! It is served with a side salad and homemade coleslaw.

We have had fantastic feedback about this dish so far:

“Sometimes pesto can be quite overpowering, but the goats cheese and pesto was perfectly balanced, and there was plenty of tomato too. The side salad was a good size and the homemade coleslaw was lovely.”

If you are in the area, we hope you’ll consider popping in to try this panini. Or, if it isn’t to your taste, browse our menu to see what else we have on offer.

School Holidays: Things To Do With the Kids

The school holidays are here and you might be wondering about family activities and days out with the kids available to you this summer. If you have kids you know how important it is to engage their active minds, and at Visit Hillbrush we offer a range of things to keep you and the little ones occupied!

If you’re out and about and looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat and a drink, our restaurant is an ideal and welcoming venue. We offer a large menu of locally sourced food and snacks, an artisan coffee bar, and a drinks menu. We are extremely family friendly and there is even a special menu just for children. We have parasols on our terrace, so it is possible to spend time both inside and out to enjoy the weather. Dogs are also welcome on the terrace (guide dogs are welcome inside, too).

Once you have sated your appetite, you can browse the many colourful wares in our shop, many of which make fantastic gifts. Then there is our brushmaking museum, where you can learn about the many different brush types and fibres from around the world, as well as discover our company history which dates back to 1922! There are tactile displays for the kids, engaging videos, and displays full of quirky and interesting brushware.

We also offer free Kids Activity Booklets (you can ask for these at the tills) and offer a children’s seating area where they can colour and fill out their booklets.

We do hope you’ll pop in to see us this summer!

Foodie Feature – Macaroni Cheese

Today we are featuring our Ricotta and Butternut Squash Macaroni Cheese served with Garlic Ciabatta. This works great for either lunch or dinner; the macaroni cheese is quite light and creamy, but with the garlic ciabatta this dish becomes rather filling. It’s one of our vegetarian dishes (although carnivores will also enjoy it, as it’s so tasty!). The garlic bread is crispy on the outside and deliciously warm and buttery.

You can find a full menu of our dishes and drinks by clicking here. If there is anything not on the menu, or anything you are unsure of, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Review Catch Up

Regardless of the rainy, blustery weather we have been having lately, people have been popping in to see us and try our restaurant. We’ve found a couple of reviews about Visit Hillbrush and wanted to share what others have been saying about our visitor centre.

First, The Dorset Foodie Family posted about a recent visit, encouraging people to give us a try if they haven’t already. They also included some excellent photos of their coffee and cake!

We were also reviewed by Taste of the West, whose aim is to promote fantastic local food and drink in Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. You can read their review here.
